About the Founder

Suzanne Hazel Rupp is a Northern Virginia native and infrastructure and business development executive whose family has been building this region for four generations. She is deeply rooted in the community where she was raised and has chosen to raise her own family — an investment in this market that goes well beyond professional. She has been on the ground floor of over $6B in critical infrastructure and commercial real estate activity — originating opportunities, building the client relationships, and advancing the pursuits that made those deals possible. She has also led firms into entirely new markets, breaking into the data center vertical, diversifying revenue across sectors, and reducing the concentration risk that leaves companies vulnerable when any single market shifts. Her network spans Dominion Energy and NOVEC, Fairfax and Loudoun Water, Virginia's gubernatorial and legislative circles, Loudoun, Fairfax, and Prince William county economic development authorities, and the contractor and developer ecosystem that moves Northern Virginia's market. Suzanne is an active participant in 7x24 Exchange, NAIOP Northern Virginia/DC/MD, CREW Northern Virginia/DC/MD, the Washington Airports Task Force, and the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance. She founded The Hazel Advisory in response to the depth of those relationships — and the opportunity to align them in service of the region's most consequential projects.

HOW WE WORK

Strategy tailored to your firm's needs

The Hazel Advisory operates on a retainer model — structured for sustained strategic engagement, not episodic transactions. Engagements are selective, relationship-driven, and built for firms serious about where they are going.

Engagement Terms

Engagements begin with a minimum six-month retainer commitment. Scope is tailored at the outset — The Hazel Advisory works with a focused roster of clients to ensure each relationship receives the attention it warrants. Engagement terms, including any performance-based components, are discussed directly and structured to reflect the scope and nature of each client relationship.

Standard Retainer

Remote Strategic Leadership

Structured strategy leadership delivered remotely on a consistent, ongoing basis. This engagement encompasses market analysis and competitive positioning, pipeline development and opportunity tracking, proposal strategy and pursuit support, and active stewardship of key client relationships. Designed for firms that need a dedicated strategic mind without the overhead of a full-time executive presence.

Premium Retainer

Fractional Chief Strategy Officer

Full fractional CSO engagement for firms requiring executive-level strategy at the highest level of involvement. This tier includes everything in the Standard Retainer, plus direct participation in ownership and leadership meetings, unlimited proposal and pursuit support, teaming and partnership development, and extended availability for time-sensitive decisions. All in-person engagements are served at this tier.
